Surface Treatment for Aluminum Extrusion

　　Aluminum extrusion can be classified by application, by alloy number and by surface treatment. Here we deal with surface treatment.

　　Generally speaking, there are six types of surface treatment for aluminum extrusion. The first type proves to be the most well-known one: anodization, which means to coat aluminum materials with a thin layer of compact aluminum oxide. Anodized aluminum products defeat common ones in their perfect dye absorption. The second type is electrophoretic coating. Paintings form a layer of even film on the surface of aluminum extrusion under the influence of electric field. The film becomes a hard protective layer after being heat treated. Another type, powder spaying, makes painting powder with negative charge enter a strong static electric field, fly onto the surface of aluminum profiles and forms a even powder layer. The fourth type falls on grain transfer printing. This method can only be applied on the basis of powder coating or electrophoretic coating. Designs of wood grain are quickly pressed and printed onto the coated layer of aluminum extrusion so that it gives an impression of natural wood. The fifth type is PVDF coating, which, as the name hints, is to coat the surface of aluminum materials with PVDF. The last is polishing, including mechanical and chemical polishing and usually used for producing mirror surface.
